Bilateral Ventriculomegaly

Ventriculomegaly is a brain condition that occurs when the lateral ventricles become dilated. In a healthy fetus the lateral ventricles are less than 10 mm wide. Anything above 15mm is considered severe. There is a lower rate of infant survival and higher rate of neurologic handicap in those infants with severe ventriculomegaly and in those with associated anomalies. On Friday 21st Sept, at a 31 week scan, we found out our baby was diagnosed with this. The measurements were (L) 21mm / (R) 26mm
